    Sexually transmitted diseases in nonhuman primates. Ideally, comparison with other primates should yield valuable clues to the evolution of human venereal diseases, but scanty knowledge is a handicap.   Research on the history of venereal diseases (VD), syphilis, gonorrhoea, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs in more recent parlance), has flourished in recent years.
